Hi All,
Recently I have been having throbbing headaches, increased abdominal pain and dizzy spells. Earlier today I took a shower then my vision had dark spots and my ears were pounding and I felt very dizzy. I could barely see or hear or move. I have fainted twice before, and thankfully my mom was there before, otherwise I would have. I am going to my GI for a follow up, but I was just wondering what you guys drink to hydrate. I know all about gatorade and not drinking plain water, but that does not really help me. Also, could you tell me where to get these things to drink? That would be great.

Thank you all for your help.

(I forgot to add, and before I do I do not drink half as much as I should. I usually drink a bottle of water maybe and I drink sprite with my meds and maybe a glass of milk. But I always have to pee. My BMs don't wake me up, and if they do it's around like 9 am. Me having to pee almost twice a night wakes me up. I just thought I should add this)

sodium bicarbonate is baking powder and can be bought at a supermarket.

glucose powder can be bought at a supermarket or health store

and sodium chloride is just table salt

so all the ingredients can be obtained easily

just remember once you have made the solution you need to throw it after 24 hrs if you haven't drunk it all..
when i get those dizzy spells from dehydration, it's the salt that really gives me the pick me up. i'll eat a small bag of potato chips or cheese and crackers or have some soup, and it perks me right up. to be followed with a big glass of water. also, i'm not sure if i read your post correctly, but if you are only drinking one bottle of water, a can of sprite, and a glass of milk a day, it's probably not enough. be sure to drink more throughout the day.

@MAS...not everyone needs the electrolyte drinks, but many of us do that aren't absorbing enough. plain water is fine as long as you are getting enough electrolytes and salts through food. having too much plain water can dilute your system from my understanding, but that would probably be quite a bit of water.
If your systems are working as intended, drinking water is just fine, IMO. I've never used any sort of oral rehydration solution (ORS), and hope never to need it. I sincerely disagree that simply drinking water ever actually causes dehydration, but others seem to feel differently, perhaps because they can't get their bodies adequately hydrated with just water.

If you have severe diarrhea it turns out that oral rehydration solutions with some sugar can help your body absorb much more water than drinking plain water. Diarrhea also causes your body to lose electrolytes, and most ORS formulas replace some of those.

Some J-pouchers have trouble staying hydrated, for one reason or another, and they may be very well served by ORS. Dehydration is a big deal - just losing consciousness can cause serious injury from the fall. So stay hydrated, but (IMO) don't treat problems unless you have them.
