Hello all. Recently painful gas and bloating has been an issue. I take Beano at meals with some small effect. I try to avoid foods that cause gas; I do well on major items - tomatoes, asparagus, etc. - but I am far from perfect. I do NOT take simethicone because it does nothing for me.  What else can I do to relieve gas pain?  I am grateful for whatever advice you all can provide.

Gas-X is simethicone, which the OP has tried.

Another suggestion is to drastically reduce your carbohydrate intake, especially sugar and highly refined grains. Eating more carbs than your gut can digest leaves food for bacteria to work on, with gas as a by product. So don't just think anout the typical gas forming foods. Also, many of us are sensitive to high fiber intake too (carbs that we do not digest), for the same reason. You need to find that happy medium that works for you.

But, in the end, serious gas and bloating means pouchitis or bacterial overgrowth for me. The solution is antibiotics. Some people are able to maintain bacterial balance with probiotics, but they have not worked out for me.
