Just received a reply from my Gastro:-

Hi Robert,

Abbvie, the company who make humira have issued some new guidelines recently. A single humira pen can be stored at room temperature up to 25°C for a maximum period of 14 days but it must be protected from the light. Once removed from the refrigerator the pen must be used within 14 days or discarded even if it is returned to the refrigerator.

Hope that all makes sense. With regards to your appointment with Cath, I will speak to my secretary today to make sure this has been made.

Kind regards

When I was on Humira and was traveling, I just adjusted my injection days so that I had an injection just before leaving, then had an injection just after returning. I was on weekly injections, so it was a bit of a hassle. If I knew there would be a fridge where I was staying, I'd bring a syringe with me. I got a travel cold pack from the manufacturer for free, and it was great. Even though you can leave it out at room temp for quite a while, I'd be concerned about uneven ambient temperatures, so a cooler is a good idea.

But, for the most part, if I could adjust the schedule, that was the easiest thing to do. I find it hard to remember to do the injection when I am distracted by travel.

Now I'm on Simponi, which is monthly, so I have a lot more flexibility.
