Hello, I want to know your experience about your 3rd surgery post-operatory.. this is because I might have to do a 3rd surgery and I would like to know how much time do I need to be on the hospital, if there is pain , etc..

Also I would like to know how much time did you have to wait between 2nd surgery and 3rd one.

Thanks

im also waiting for takedown. having an mri pouchogram next week to see if im ready.

last scan two months ago showed a tiny sinus.

i had the 2nd surgery on may12 so almost 4 months ago.

from what i understand the third surgery is easier, its just a question of waiting for the bowels to wake up and dealing with gas pains and butt burn
I had a two step procedure with step two being the takedown.

Take down, for me, was a breeze. Minimal pain, 3 day hospital stay...zero problems and once I was home I healed and adjusted very quickly. The first surgery was really tough for me and I had complications so I was very relieved to have an uneventful takedown.
I did not do as well as expected. It was expected to be 3 nights in hospital, but it turned into 7 nights, due to fever and vomiting. Nothing major. But wish it had been smooth sailing.

Easiest surgery for me, was step 2. Told it would be 5 nights in hospital and that is exactly what it was, with no complications. I was ready to leave after 3 nights!

The healthier you are, the easier the surgery and recovery time will be!
My initial surgery was laproscopic which went fine but a month or less into it I had a serious blockage that put me in the hospital and they could not find it so off to surgery. I was cut wide open and while they were there they hooked it up and took the bag off. Within a week I was back under the knife because of bleeding in my abdomen that could not be explained. That surgery almost killed me. I was in the hospital off and on for over a month with blockages and loss of appetite and such. It was not a pleasant experience. It wouldn't be for anyone anyways.
It just seems I still have the same urgency as when I had uc the only difference is I can hold it. It never seems as though I have emptied and can go relax. It has been 11 months and I am giving it more time. I have my good days and bad days. More in between days than anything. That's why I figure I have to give it more time. I just feel as though it was rushed. But I hear people just doing one step and they are OK. It was just rough for me. I lost 50 pounds and I have only gained 13 back. I have a long way to go. With weight. I don't know. Everything is healthy in there. Never had any infections or inflammation. She says it all looks great. So... I will give it a lot more time.
Some info.... I am 58...weighed 176 when I went in.
I guess if I were younger it would heal up quicker. But I was basically in good health besides the uc.
