I took a medication that often causes diarrhoea as a side effect. Unfortunately it did have that effect, so I discontinued it.

But that was a week ago and I’m still having “rice water” BMs. Everything in the bowel area feels slightly inflamed.

Am eating low-residue diet. Any other ideas? Loperamide disagrees with me, so that’s out.

Some folks do better with Lomotil than loperamide (it works better for me). Psyllium also might help, by adding some bulk to the stool.

I’m pretty sure they both disagree with me (as in, side effects) but will look back in my notes from times past and see.

I tried Metamucil but it caused more stomach/pouch pain. (I don’t usually take it these days anyway due to megapouch.)

Any ideas for inflammation? I would try steroids but I was actually taking prednisolone when this happened (it was for another reason).

Ah, lomotil is prescription only here. I don’t have a decent GP and have no GI so nobody to prescribe anyway.

Am trying to get in with new GI but it’s a two-hour drive and I have a fainting disorder and nobody to drive me at the moment.

Loperamide is over the counter but my notes from when I tried it say I had horrible side effects.
