56 and feeling fantastic!
I was 22 when I was diagnosed with UC, and was 29 when I received my pouch. I am 36 now, and frequently wonder if I should have stayed with the bag.
My son was 9-10 through the course of the three steps. I am adding an attachment to show him last weekend - one year since take down. He is 11. His relay team finished first place in our City Swim Meet! It is a huge meet with 20 teams. You'll know which one he is by his scars. He has done very well!

17 - My daughter will be having her colon removed next Monday, July 30th and sometime after that having the 2nd surgery where they form the J-pouch. She has a blood clot in her leg that the drs want to get resolved before they do the second surgery so they are thinking it will be 6 months down the road before they do that.
I was 17 when I had my surgeries.
28
But I had a doctor who thought I was 18.

I was diagnosed at like 9 or 10? Super young.
Had the colon out when I was 15, February of 1998 (have the picture of my colon to prove it!).
Docs waited a few years, in 2000 I was 17 I had the pouch made, then later on that year I had the takedown. I cant remember the months. 3 surgeries total.

Had my takedown about 2 weeks before I turned 28. I was diagnosed with UC last October and it seemed like it happened overnight. I have always felt really healthy and was very active then I went to work in North Dakota for a week an got sick. By the end of the week the pain was so bad and I was pooping nothing but blood every 15 minutes. When I got home I went to the doc and got a scope and he said I had severe UC. Within 2 months I lost 60 lbs and tried every drug to no avail. I opted for surgery and now feel great. What I thought was weird was I had no symptoms my whole life and within a week my Colin had gotten so bad the doctor said it was ready to fall apart when he took it out. It definitely changed my outlook on life! I don't take anything for granted now!
I was 19-20, this was 30 years ago. Pretty much trouble free for thirty years! Now getting a little shaky
... fistula and been taking antibiotic for two years straight... but quality of life still excellent - better really as the ciprofloxin keeps the pouch very happy and quiet and the fistula down.
