It seems that if I drink over 8 ounces at anyone sitting that my system can't handle it and I have long drawn out watery Bm's afterward, which has been a tough adjustment for me as I've always chugged at least one 16 ounce bottle of water at lunch or dinner within 20 to 30 minutes; anyone else experience this and if so does it get better?

Yes I have the same exact problem with water and I'm six months post takedown. I hope it gets better soon for both of us.
I tend to drink smaller amounts of water throughout the day instead of chugging at any one given time.
For me, I don't drink water while eating a meal. Drink 15 to 20 minutes after a meal. Give your system some time to absorb the food and nutrients before being flushed out with lots of water. Sip water throughout the day to keep your system evenly, regularly hydrated instead of flooding it by chugging.
Yeah I was a 'chugger' too, but now I find downing a pint flushes me most effectively lol. I will have half a pint before a meal and finish it after the meal! That way I still drink while I'm thinking about it, without overly harsh effects.. I probably should go easier than that to be fair, but I forget to sip lol
I worked out in 100 degree heat and drank 7 - 16 ounce waters during my shift. I needed it.
It all depends on what you are doing. I drank half a bottle at times.

I don't have any reaction to chugging water, but many folks apparently do. It could be related to transit time, and be fine as long as things are moving along methodically rather than briskly.
Water seems to give me issue, so I've been adding a splash of juice to it and it seems to absorb better/less watery stools.
Interesting to discover this thread. I had an ira just leaving the rectum for bowel control back in 1994 for FAP when I was 14, I was due to have J POUCH surgery next month but I have been struck down by kidney stones. My hospital thinks I've been drinking incorrectly for years causing the stones. I am definitely a guzzler, drinking lots of tea and water plus a few sugary fizzy drinks. My surgeon has now got me drinking 2.5 litres a day, avoiding caffeine, fizzy and added sugar drinks and especially plain water. If I go over this target my bowel movements become very watery as the small intestines can't cope leading to less fluid going through kidneys.
The results of suppling 2.5 litres a day are incredible. No more diarrhea, well formed poops, easily half the bowel movements and with the help of imodium no night disturbances for the first time in memory. It's given me hope when my job pouch surgery is rescheduled sometime next year.
Forgot to add it was told to avoid drinking 30 mins before and after eating to slow the bowel down to digest as much nutrients as possible
Being in a constant state of dehydration without a large intestine. .I drink more than the "half my body weight in ounces of water"daily.. That is my minimum to keep things flowing. I can down a 12 to 16 oz of room temp water without issues..I do tend to drink my water through out the day and never with meals.. and since Im up through the night visiting the Throne Ill take a sip of water then as well.. lemon juice or raw apple cidar vinegar splashed in water helps to nutralize the acid output.
