I had takedown surgery Tuesday morning. All day Tuesday I just stopped water. Today wed I was put on soft food diet. I ate small meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My bowels still haven't walked up. How long should it take for them to wake up? Should I be worried? Should I stop eating until I poop? I don't want to just keep eating without pooping.

I don't know what is average. I was put on a regular diet right after surgery. It took about 24 hours for my pouch to start working.
Are you passing gas? If you are then your bowels are considered "awake". If you are not passing gas, feeling nauseated, vomiting and are bloated you need to be seen by a doctor right away as you may have an ileus.
It took 10 days, an NG tube to suction and IV nutrition for my bowels to wake up after my j-pouch surgery. I am an unusual case however.
Keep moving as walking helps to get things going.

All of this happened to me as well. I want to say it was 4 days and the nausea, gas and bloating started. The nausea was the most intense nausea I ever had in my life. Then the vomiting started. I had metal staples from beneath my rib cage to an inch or two above the base of my penis and as soon as I started vomiting they NG Tubed me. It's quite amazing how much gastric juices your body produces and during an ileus what cannot go down must go up. Basic law of nature. They had the NG tube attached like a vacuum cleaner to a huge plastic bowl and gallons and gallons of bile and gastric juices were pumped up and out.
Once the nausea starts it is time for the NG tube. Don't wait to start vomiting as it's not good for your wounds.
This happened to me due to too much morphine. As posted above get up and walk as much as possible and stay out of the bed.
I passed gas a couple times last night but I still have gas pains. I have been passing stool but it's straight liquid

Since you passed liquid stool, that is a bm, you are all good I think.
*I think I passed stool the day after I ate*
Jay dog you are out of the woods on an ileus. Don't know what you have been eating but I wouldn't worry about it just yet, you may want to take a small amount of Metamucil and tums for the gas.
For me it took a little over 24 hours after I woke up. It started as gas and then liquid. After 2 days I was having loose stool and then I was sent home. They made me walk as much as possible..sounds like things are moving for you I would keep walking as it helps to pass the gas.

I had the same issue as well after both surgeries. On the first surgery for the removal it took almost 7 days for everything to start moving.. I had to get the NG tube also after I started throwing up..After my second surgery for the take down it happened again it lasted for around 7 days and got the good ole NG tube again..Its a waiting game when its ready to wake up it will..The nurses and doctors told me walking helps as well which I did until things started moving.
I had surgery on a Wednesday, went home Thursday so didn't take long. I was sick over that weekend though, throwing up and very nauseous. I've had that problem every surgery though so I think for me it may have been anesthesia? Hopefully you're feeling good and have a problem free experience!
3 days. I was not given anything other than clear liquids and a ton of IV fluids until I passed gas. Actually on day 2 I passed a little gas, but they told me it has to be a “Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt” like gas. That was funny. They did not give me food until I passed a long gas.
