I took myself off cipro and tintazole 3 weeks ago after several months due to pouchitis and have been fine. I did it slowly doing cipro for several days then tintazole alone for a week. I am using peptobismol 2-4 times a day and believe it or not drinking wheatgrass juice twice a day and doing what is called a wheatgrass implant or enema once a day. This was recommended as part of the Hippocrates Health Institute program. You put 2-4 oz of wheatgrass juice in a enema bottle into the rectum and try to hold for 10-20 minutes. I sure hope this success keeps up. Wheatgrass juice is probably the most nutritious substance according to this institute and some of the research I've read.
I hope will help others.

Sorry it took me so long to get back I have been out of town. I was buying my wheatgrass juice at Whole Foods but now bought a slow mastricating juicer that handles wheatgrass. I do 2oz drink in AM and at 6PM no later as it can keep you awake. I do a rectal enema with 3 oz where I hold it in, it isn't easy, for as long as I can 5-20 minutes.
Now the bad news, I am very embarrassed to say I am back on antibiotics, I think because the medical retreat I went to in FL had us all eating only raw vegetables and salad for 1 week and it tore up my system and I think aggravated everything. I will let you know how this progresses. I am back in the bathroom 30-40 times a day so started today on the antibiotics.
