Scott - thanks! You just shake it up in the morning and drink?

I just shake it up and drink it twice daily. I don't like to use artificial sweetener, so I mix a half dose of sugar-sweetened Metamucil with a half dose of original Konsyl to get the sugar balance I prefer. This involved fussy measuring one time only with a kitchen scale to get a good visual estimate of what the proper dose looks like using my ordinary spoons.

ah I never considered using sugar sweetened Metamucil. So you’re using 1/2 teaspoon of Metamucil and 1/2 of konsyl?

No, that's incorrect. The different formulations have different dosing (sugar takes up more volume than artificial sweetener or no sweetener, for example). The labeled dose of sugar-sweetened Metamucil is 1-2 rounded tablespoons. The labeled dose of Konsyl is one teaspoon. So I weighed 1 rounded tablespoon of Metamucil (I just used a Metamucil travel packet as a shortcut), divided it in half, and poured it onto a kitchen spoon for a visual reference I could duplicate easily. I did the same thing with a half-teaspoon of Konsyl. Now I just spoon out the visually correct amount of each onto the same style of spoon into 8 oz of water.

The doses are labeled on the package in grams, so an even simpler approach is to use that to find the visual volume (for your particular spoon) of a half dose.

Psyllium dosing is very flexible, and the amount that works best for you could easily be different from my dose. Day-to-day consistency is pretty useful though, but it doesn't have to be perfectly precise.
