How Do You Know When You Need to be Dialated.

I was dialated on 5 08 14.
My report said mild stenosis...after the dialation....whatever that is but everything else was normal.
Would you think that the scar tissue has come back this quickly?
I had a terrible day yesterday.
I must have went to the bathroom at work alone 15 plus times and I had to strain to get anything out. All that comes out is solid no diarrhea.
But something is not right going that many times and having the urge to go that many times and only small amounts coming out with straining.
Any comments would be helpful.
Right now I am trying to get an appointment to be digitally Dialated if needed.

Ok...i know what stenosis is and it says mild stenosis at anastomosis.

No, it is not to soon for it to recur. Your symptoms seem to indicate you have a new stricture. Sometime it takes multiple dilations, home dilations, or even surgery to maintain an adequate opening. Hopefully, you are not taking any bowel slowers or stool thickeners right now.

I was taking lomotil...spell.....but I stopped.
My Dr will be mad if I tell her but I won't.

I figured as much but to get advice from this forum confirms it for me.
I never tried to do it myself. Afraid I may cause damage.

If one wanted to check to see if they have a stricture how would they go about this...I'm thinking I developed one and am calling my surgeon today, issue is same above and started 3 days ago, though it's not to solid but formed. If a stricture is felt what can I do here at home?

Yes, the scar tissue can form again very quickly. From your description, it sounds like you may need to be dilated again. I dealt with this soon after my takedown and I had a total of 5 dilations before my stricture finally stayed open.

Home (self) dilation is usual on direction of your doctor after a dilation in the office. You are given a tool to use daily to maintain the opening and prevent the stricture from reforming. You would. Not be doing this on your own without your doctor's orders.

To check for a stricture you could gently insert a lubed finger. If there is one, it would be past both sphincters at the suture line, so you'd have to go in a ways. If there is a stricture present, there is nothing you should do about it, other than see your doctor.

I am going to see the Dr this morning.
Ask for advice and get back to everyone.

I have the 96 Mystic and my wife has the 04 Mystichrome.
Beautiful cars. No need to ever buy another.
I bought mine new. Hers was used..14 grand mileage....but low and took a chunk o change off it.

Jan - def would not becoming it without doc orders I'm actually in a room now waiting on her to come in for similar issues.

Mystic - def pm me. I drive an 01 mustang, its a v6 but I'm a huge stang enthusiast. Awesome on having mystic chrome too!
I'll save for pm, I hope your issues are sorted out fast. Ill report back what my doc says as this sounds really similiar

Hello all.
Well.
That was my problem.
Scar tissue was in my way...ta da!
I wish all were that simple.
I asked about self dialation but he was not my surgeon but he said people do it. But he knew my surgeon and how much time she has vested in me and didn't want to butt....haha...I said butt...in....hahaha.... no ...well ok pun intended now.

He asked me to talk to my surgeon about it and I will.

Glad you got an answer Mysticobra. The last time I went to my surgeon for dilation he mentioned to me if the scar tissue continues forming that I could do it myself and he would show me how with the proper tool. I was like um, no! I just didn't want to do it myself....scared I guess. Luckily after that last time I never had a problem with it again and it's been good since.

I didn't get great news from mine. I'll probably be making a post tomorrow when I wrap my head around it but she seemed convinced I didn't have a stricture, she didn't check but I did have a scope done 1 week ago so I guess she is going by that. She had me go on bentyl and resume canasa suppositories. I'm praying this takes care of my issues.

Sorry to hear you did not get anything resolved.
I hope it is not too serious.
I think I may have to go in several times to get mine dialated.
I don't mind...I don't find it serious...a bit uncomfortable but bearable and rather a minor thing to deal with.
Keep us updated on your situation.
