My problem is I started with 20 plus BMs 2 years ago. My surgeon said it was not pouchitis because it occurs after the BMs settle to a norm and not from beginning. Went on Morphine Sulphate to reduce numbers. Still have over 10 a day. Currently reducing by 50 % morphine for loperdermide. Always a element of liquid but surviving on mostly liquid solid. Last week had a possible blockage but stopped taking reducers and took only liquid. hard several days but made me question when do I know to ask for cipro or other meds. Hate to thjink I am missing out on life if a med could better solve problm

I'm new to having a jpouch but my bms are btween 12-15 a day right now somedays I get by with 7 but as for me I wear diapers and trash bags around me everywhere I go I don't what to do my surgeon says Metamucil and Imodium work I think he's a liar
Bill, it sounds like you ought to make an appointment to see a knowledgeable gastroenterologist. I can't tell what your surgeon does (and doesn't) know, but you deserve an intelligent diagnosis.
Michael, if you don't trust your doctor I recommend you find a new one.
I'm just scared frustrated and don't know what to do I've been in and out the hospital so much nothing seems to change I figured by now stool would become pasty and more able to control should I call a gi doctor for help
Michael. There are things you can try. Prescription lomotil can help. Thicken your stool w bananas and starches. Metamucil will also thicken the stool which can prevent accidents. You should not be suffering as you are. Even a short round of antibiotics can help thicken the stool if you are having pouchitis.
I don't know what pouchitis is but I got to get my staples out tomrrow so I'll talk to the doctor tomrrow they had me on lomotol but told me just to do Metamucil twice a day I was on opium tinsure before take down but was told not to take it after I know like this is not living it's a nightmare and when I report to my surgeons office on the daily because of the output and get told what your going through is normal it takes time they say I had a banana and peanut butter toast for lunch today 30 mins later it was time for my diaper to be changed stool full of liquid
