Are hemorrhoids very painful...I am going to see my surgeon for what I have been thinking is cuffitis. One thing that made me thing of hemorrhoids is the pain always seems like its on the left side of anus. It almost seems like a bunch of pressure in one spot and sometimes I can feel a swollen pimple like lump right inside the edge of the anal opening. It's very sore when wiping and this is the same spot that always flares up when I had been off antibiotics for more than a week lately. So I guess my question is can hemorrhoids cause blinding pain when having a BM or just sitting down and would they cause incomplete emptying due to irritation? Thanks for the help lately!

My experience with hemorrhoids has always been a very painful burning while wiping and afterwards. My entire anus seemed to be swollen and I had very slight bleeding with mine. It never affected my emptying though. My doctor prescribed a cortisteroid that I applied rectally with an applicator. After 3 or 4 applications they were undercontrol.
I have never had cuffitis so I cannot compare the two.

I thought hemmaroids were the cause of pain but just had a scope last week. Symptoms are the same as Kline84. Initial findings are a 10 mm sessile polyp with some ulcerations located at the anus. I am being referred to a surgeon to have the polyp removed. Random biopsies were taken that day but the polyp resection couldn't be completed because of location and extreme level of pain.  Was also told that an overgrowth of bacteria in my small bowel was the cause of recent weight loss 30 plus pounds in the past few months.  Am on Xifaxan for now. Hoping the removal of the polyp will help with level of pain. And the Xifaxan will help calm my digestive system down and I can eat regular meals again. Anyone else have issues with a sessile polyp causing so much pain?
