Hi Pamela,
I have had my J-Pouch for over 22yrs and like anything else whether its an engine or a jpouch sometimes you need a good mechanic to service it.
If you can avoid the stoma at all costs I would. I would suggest seeking out and do your research on the best surgeons in your country. I'm travelling 15oo miles back to Cleveland to have my engine maker Dr. Strong help me fix mine. I think after all you've been thru it might be worth having a second opinion!!!You're Qol is worth every penny spent
. There has been much research done on the subject of pouch revision and much of it has pertained to pelvic floor function and twisting of the pouch, weakening of the sphincter muscles and rectal cuff etc. Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery did a publ. edited by Dr. Remzi from Cleveland Clinic and other articles. Be very careful because the artery attached to the mesentery has to be adequate to provide bloodflow to revise a pouch however it is doable by the pro's. Let me know how it turns out. My appointment to see if this is possible for revision is in Jan..I'll post the possibilities!!
Take Care of yourself!!!
God Bless
