I had seton draining surgery on June 5th. All was going great until Friday when I had an extreme amount of bleeding to the point where I had to sit on the toilet until it stopped.. I went to emergency they gave me IV fluids and gravol.. Blood work came back great and I felt so much better after.. It happened again last night an enormous amount of break through bleeding again..I'm very sore around the seton today and feel quite week.. I do have an appointment with my doctor at 9:15 today..By the way he said it wasn't coming from my rectum the first time maybe seton related. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm feeling like I don't want to leave my house in case this happens in public..We have a Italy trip planned for mid July tat we are so excited about but now I'm quite scared.besides the bleeding episodes I feel great and have no problem with the seton.. What could be happening??

My seton will drain a bit of blood, but nothing like what you're describing. Told my CRS yesterday, and he's not concerned with my small amount (and it's wee small), and said it can be normal with a fistula. Not sure what to tell you, since you've said your seton isn't in a fistula, that it's just through abscess tissue, and that it doesn't come looped through the anal canal like a normal seton. See what he says, I guess.
it's definetly not through the anal canal..It is coming through the seton probably from me over using my heating pad.. He packed both ends of the abscess with kaltostat. I had some blood work done and they will call me with results.. He says not to worry it does happen and should heal itself..Very strange complication?

Well my blood work came back all good..I have been off my heating pad since yesterday.. Hopefully I won't have anymore bleeding episodes?
