Hello! My name is Lisa, I am from Kansas, am 53, and I was diagnosed in June of 2011 with UC.

I was pretty sick for some time and would get better then flare again...many, many times.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with C-diff and almost died. I had to have a total colectomy with a temp. Ilieostomy placement. I had this done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

In 2016, I had the 3 step J-pouch surgery...

From 2016 through July 31, of 2019, I had been very sick with chronic pouchitis. I was placed on antibiotics for the entire 3 years, and....I ran fevers for the entire 3 years. I developed MRSA, had a Picc line placed. I was sent to an Infectious disease doctor. No one could figure out what was wrong.
Finally, I returned back to the Mayo Clinic. After much testing, They said my J-pouch had failed and I was septic on my Pelvic floor. So, I went back to a temporary ilieostomy. My J-pouch is still intact which means I still have my rectal cuff .

I still have tenesmus and flare like symptoms.... but no fever

My question to you is this:
Has anyone out there ever went BACK to a J-pouch after having it taken down for a "rest period?" If so, How are you doing? and How was the surgery?

I am very thankful for my life, but I would rather not live with an ostomy throughout if I didn't have to.

I would very much appreciate any advice or thoughts anyone may have-
