Hi,

I am 6 months post take down and am struggling slightly with my weight. If I have too much fruit, veg and salad my output increases and I struggle with stomach cramps. Am trying to find a balance that means I can eat well and not have to rely too much on bulky carbs. Any suggestions for meals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Alice, sorry to hear you are having some difficulties with fruits and vegetables, which isn't uncommon. It will get better with time. In the meantime, an inexpensive juicer could be helpful to keep produce in your diet (even six years out from my last surgery, I still have difficulty with raw spinach and carrots, so I juice them both). A good protein powder would be good as well; there are lots out there to choose from but I like the one from Arbonne since it doesn't have artificial sweeteners and has 20g of vegan based protein. Mixing up some protein drinks and having some fresh juice will help to increase your calorie intake while still keeping you nourished instead of just eating the carbs. Bananas always seem to sit well with me and are great for potassium, so I add them to a lot of my smoothies as well, in addition to PB2 powder, which a lot of grocery stores are carrying now (dehydrated peanut butter). Hope some of this is helpful! Smiler
You can also try eating more cooked veg at first -- not always exciting but can help ease you into the raw stuff. I also "front load" my fruit & veg, meaning I try to eat more in the morning and early afternoon and less toward supper; my body seems to process them better and then I'm not up at night as much.
