I am a female who is 5'5 and weigh 122. Since TD, my belly makes me look like I weigh 140 and my arms and legs look like sticks. I have not gained one ounce since take down.

Mostly, it is genetics for me, but I can't seem to put ANY weight on. I am moderately active with part time work, walking the dogs and gardening, but I also love to eat.

I could step on the scale after eating a huge steak and potato dinner and I swear, it will say I LOST a pound.

Doing exercises will not help firm up my belly, since it I now have a hernia.

ps: When I left the hospital a year ago after the loss of my colon, I weighed 91 lbs.
I look like you lesandiego except I also have a but in the front, thanks to my scaring. I lost 65 lbs after my surgeries, which was the prednisone weight I could never loose. I've felt so bad since then with problems relating to this and my other health problems I'm holding steady on the weight side but have not been able to exercise.

It's hard to find clothing that fits as I'm 2 sizes bigger in the middle than the rest of me.

You would think since they removed a major organ our abdomen's would be smaller!
The best way to gain weight in arms and legs if you're not genetically pre-disposed to carry fat there is to gain muscle. Make sure you're eating plenty of daily protein and try some gentle weight training. Doesn't have to be anything crazy or even very heavy. Weightbearing exercise is also very good for your bones, and most of us having been on prednisone in the past could use the boost.
Wow this all nice to read that all of you are happy campers! Now the weight issue, I am waiting for the takedown sugery and since I have had the second step I have lost 14 pounds. Nothing fits! I have always been low in weight, my original weight was 114 pounds and I am now 100 pounds, YIKES! Food as soon as I eat it goes right through me even with the ammodium. So after takedown I will still be losing? I already look anorexic and I dont even want to leave my house because of it and the leakage issue too. The leakage comes out of the bottom of my stoma and my butt too. I am so looking foward to not have to deal with it anymore
Rachel,
I hope to gain back my weight but I know it not going to be before the takedown.I went in weighing 112 and today I weiged myself and I am down to a low 97 pounds, yikes! I look like I have an eating disorder or something. I just look awful. Do you think after the takedown I will loose even more? Gosh I hope not!!! thank you!!
