Haemorrhoids!

Hi,

I've never been checked for these before but just been in to my local hospital and they are going to have me scoped for haemorrhoids.

These can't be at the "exit" because the doctor did a digital exam and didn't see anything, but she suggests there could be some further up.

Has anyone had any experience of this before?

Yes. I have some internal as well as external hemmorroids. Since they rarely bother me, I have chosen to leave them alone.

Do they bleed much? Only I've experienced small amounts of blood for about two weeks (wasted a course of flagyl if it was haemorrhoids). I'm a bit sceptical they can stay bleeding for that long!

They can bleed a fair amount, though usually not more than the drip,drip, drip level. They can bleed enough to make you anemic. And they often bleed much less or not at all. As you say, Flagyl doesn't help at all.

Mine don't bleed much but, then again, I never have to strain to empty my pouch. The effluent is quite liquid and maybe that helps my hemmorroids behave. If I ever experience discomfort I eat oatmeal for a couple of meals and it settles my gi system down....at least what is left of it! Best wishes!
