Hi JOMBEE,

I'm really glad that you brought this topic up. J pouch summer 2006, take down summer 2007. So it's almost 11 years for me with hook up. For the past two years, I've had terrible gut noises, technically called borborygmi. My GI and nurses in the office have heard them on multiple visits because I usually visit them, in the afternoon. It has nothing to do with pouchitis because I have been scoped and biopsied and only minor inflammation. Pelvic MRI with contrast shows nothing abnormal. My excellent doctor has reached the limit of his tool kit. There is almost no research on this, just 1 paper on "intractable borborygmi". The only thing left would be exploratory surgery to look for adhesions that are narrowing the tract. There are a few experts in the US who could do this but recovery time is a complete unknown.

Because it is so distracting for work, especially in quiet rooms, I take 3 immodium each morning, gas-x does nothing. I take a sip of coffee then nothing but small sips of water and gatorade throughout the day. Immediately after work at 4 p.m. or 5 before I go home I eat a full meal at Boston Market. I live less than 30 minutes from work so I can make it back before needing to go to the bathroom. Or I have a big protein and starch meal if my wife can make it right after work. Weekends I stock up on proteins and vegetables and full meals.

It is a problem for the next day if I eat too late. I have no choice but to keep this up, oh and I have had to miss out on many events at night or excuse myself from meetings because of my after dinner gurgling. I have had to fast all day practically to make mandatory events at night. this might happen once every 2 weeks.

Like everyone else here if we want to keep living, we have no choice. My wife and I would like to downsize and move someplace smaller so I can retire. This dream keeps me going.

Good luck, hopefully you are not as bad as me.
