gum graft surgery this past friday. They put a resin type material on roof of mouth where they take the graft from. supposed to stay on for a week till followup and they remove. I noticed after lunch today it was gone.. i must have swallowed it while eating or sleeping and didnt even notice. I am freaking out now about getting an obstruction in my loop ileostomy . I called Shens office and his nurse said to watch for obstruction signs of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomitting. If so call and get in to scope it. If I do end up with an obstruction would they be able to retrieve it through the ileostomy? I am freaking out about surgery for an obstruction. The resin bandage was about the size of a half stick of chewing gum and very thin. scared to death now..always something. how soon would symptoms show of a possible obstruction??

but when i say resin, that is a hard piece of material, its not soft. but i did find a few chips of hard pieces in bag this morning so hoping the rest makes it out ok.
My thought would also be that they'd consider accidental swallowing of the resin and use certain materials as an important safety precaution??
They said a "normal" person would just pass it, but obviously we are not "normal". lol i was worried it wouldnt pass through the ileostomy and get stuck causing an obstruction. I feel fine and everything is passing into bag so i think i am good.
Hope it's all still passing! (Or already passed!)
Come on, don't keep us in suspense already! Did you pass it?
Poucho, you and KNKLHEAD are real adventurers! Was it something like a reed, used for clarinets and saxophones, in shape but made out of resin? You are brave! I need to search your past posts to see what they used the grafts for. It is a mucus like consistency.
