I don't know where to turn to for help, so I'm hoping someone here can help me help my grandson.
Henry was two years old last April 5th. From the time he was born, he has had very infrequent, PAINFUL bowel movements.
He is a very intelligent, active kid but not forming words well, yet.
His mom (my daughter) took him to his pediatrician for this bowel problem and the doctor gave her a script - I don't know the name but it's a baby laxative to give him when he is 'backed up'.
He continues to be in extreme pain when he has a bowel movement He screams worse than a woman in labor. I hate this SOOO much. I sneak prune juice in his apple juice, encourage fresh fruits and veggies and clear liquids. Keep him away from cheese (he loves so much. He drinks a lot of juice/water because he wants to.
I told my daughter that she isn't taking this serious enough. No baby should be in pain like that every time for a bowel movement. She even has to force him to lay still so she can dig it out. Horrible. Otherwise she is a good mom. She breast fed him for just over a year. You would think that would give him looser stools..... nope.
I even thought about calling my GI doctor but my daughter probably wouldn't let me take him there. She said she thinks his system just isn't developed, yet.
I have him several times a week, but not enough to monitor his daily intake.
Any suggestions??????
Thank you
