A friend of mine is looking for a good GI doctor in the Wallingford area.  Her significant other has UC and has been advised to start Humira.  He is looking for a second opinion.  From what she has told me, he is looking for a doctor who is a good listener as well.  He is at the point where other meds. are not doing the trick, but not considering surgery at this point.  Let me know and I will pass the info. on.  I just saw that a new GI started at Yale, but forgot to write his name down.   Thanks.

I worked with Dr Ginsberg who has an office in Hampden, right off the Merrit Parkway. He’s also got an office in Guilford. He was amazing. He does infusions in the office. The first appt I met him he shipped me right to Yale bc I was so sick. He always fits me in if I need a same day appt, and has one medical assistant that handles everything for him. He’s not surgery happy either. I was able to participate in a drug trial to see if that would help.

He also was really good at keeping an eye on my bloodwork- stuff that I didn’t think would be impacted by my UC, such as my vitamin D levels, iron, and calcium (kept an eye out for osteoporosis). Highly recommend him. I travel from northern CT (an hour each way) to see him- worth the drive.

Let me know about the other younger GI. Dr. Brand is probably a few years away from retirement and when that happens, I will need a new GI myself. I actually met with Dr. Ginsberg before deciding on Dr. Brand, when I had to find a new GI after Dr. Oikonnamou left Yale for Mount Sinai in 2015. Dr. O was the only true J Pouch specialist Yale has had in the last 10 plus years.
