been treated for it for several yrs. yesterday told treatment is not working and that the pressure in my eyes it very high so added another med. I asked if any of my meds could cause but he said know. Not sure he is right because in looking for that answer seems to be meds. Also stress can be a factor. My grandmother did have glaucoma and went blind before dying. Mom has it and I think one cousin on that side. Not sure if it is only hereditary or has something to do with my meds or GI issues. If anyone can share any advice it will be very appreciated.

Kk, it probably isn’t your meds, but since you haven’t shared what meds you are on we can’t have informed advice for you.
Thanks Scott! Lomotil 2 4x a day. Every once in a while for nausea but more frequent for a rash I have been taking promethazine. Canasa once a day. I researching different things that might cause pressure to get worse. Coffee of which I have been drinking more. Have not walked as much b/c of the heat. Not going anywhere really even watching our Church on tv b/c of covid. I am a worrier. Lots of stress. These might be contributing more than meds.
The Lomotil might actually be causing you trouble at that dose. The atropine in Lomotil is present in a small amount to discourage abuse, but (usually at higher doses) it also can cause serious problems with glaucoma. I wonder if 8 tablets a day may be over the edge for your particular circumstances. You could 1) ask your doctor, 2) try substituting Imodium (loperamide) at least temporarily, or 3) just cut back on the Lomotil. No one with serious glaucoma should take atropine unless absolutely necessary, IMO.
I asked my eye doc about the Lomotil. He said there are two types of glaucoma - sorry, I do not remember the names. With one type, you can take Lomotil. With the other, no. Talk to your eye doc.
Just double checked - I forgot this was in my online files. Atropine is an issue with narrow angle glaucoma. It is not an issue with open angle. This info. is more for people who have glaucoma - not for people wondering about causes. If relatives have glaucoma, you have a higher chance of getting it.
