I developed UC symptoms when I was 13, the situation rapidly worsened, and within the year I had a colectomy, ileostomy, and an S-pouch. Eventually (after a couple of years and a couple of surgeries) the ileostomy was successfully reversed and hooked up to the S-pouch. I haven't been back to see a gastroenterologist since.
In fact, I would happily avoid all gastroenterologists for the rest of my life, but:
1) We've been talking about having kids and
2) I'm experiencing other symptoms that are likely autoimmune in origin, and when I recently ended up in a rheumatologist's office she was Pretty Insistent on me seeing a GI as well.
So... any suggestions for good gastroenterologists in the Boston area, who are familiar with patients who both have pouches and have been pregnant? Assuming I am able to get pregnant, I'm somewhat scared of... disrupting... everything in my belly. I definitely want someone who's seen patients in that situation before. And even if pregnancy is off the table, I'm also just generally worried about what kind of imaging and probing they'll have in store for me. :-( So I value any recommendations from those who have had positive experiences with their GI.
Also, I'm new, so feel free to point me to a relevant thread if I missed an obvious answer to my question. I browsed a bit but didn't see anything Boston specific...
