I haven't seen my GI since my last UC flare before surgery. My surgeon told me I can see him if I have any sort of issues with my pouch and he said to come to him for the scopes. My GI is knowledgable with j pouches so I can see her too if I choose.
My surgeon told me I no longer need to see my GI doctor. I haven't seen her since I had my Colon removed two years ago. My surgeon since once I'm okay, I'll see him once a year or so for check ups.
I'm going to ask this question to my surgeon when I see her in a couple of weeks. I really don't want to go back to the GI I was seeing before surgery.
GI mainly since surgeons don't seem to know that much about pouchitis and bacteria overgrowth or have the patience to deal with it I think. Why we have a GI and a surgeon. Surgeons are for surgery IMO.
