GI and/or colo-rectal surgeon in Sacramento

If you are successful at finding a good GI you should have no need for a colorectal surgeon. I hope you are successful.

My colorectal surgeon has always done my scopes. I haven't found a GI that was able to.

Do you mind if I ask how you are being treated for indeterminate IBD and was that diagnosis changed from Crohn's after your j-pouch?

The IBD, whatever it is/was, has stayed quiet since my surgery eleven years ago. No treatment necessary. It acts like it was UC all along. I have been very fortunate.

You might find a good GI in Davis who can take proper care of you.

Yes, you have been very fortunate. (Perhaps the reason you have not needed a colorectal surgeon.) I wish you continued success! I think Davis is my best bet, too. Thanks for you advice.

Who does the scopes depends on experience and familiarity, mainly. My GI treats a lot of j-pouchers so she prefers to perform the scopes, as she feels she has more experience doing it than my surgeon, who primarily MAKES the dang things. On the other hand, it can be hard to find a GI who's comfortable even *treating* a j-pouch no less scoping it, which is why surgeons sometimes prefer to do it themselves.
