I am six years post j pouch surgery and I still get up two to four times per night to go to the bathroom. I am looking for advice to help me get through the night with less bathroom trips. I am not taking any medications.

Immodium at bedtime works for me. One year out today and only up to pee one time.
I will try it again. I used it during the first year and it did not seem to help. Do you use over the counter immodium?
I have same issues Lab. Six years out. My issue is recurrent stricture. I've tried Imodium and lomotil wuth no difference. I now just leave a nightlight in the bath and I'm thankful I can finally fall back asleep rather quickly after trips. Sometines untreated, mild pouchitis can cause multiple night trips. Good luck. I know how much interrupted sleep impacts us jpouchets.
Hi Lab, Yes I use the Costco brand of Immodium. It's super cheap. Hopefully it continues to do the trick for me.
Thanks! I will try it.

Thanks for your reply. How do you find out if you have recurrent stricture?
I get better results from Lomotil at bed time than Imodium. I try not to eat in the later evening, and I generally sleep through the night. Since Lomotil requires a prescription, that office visit might also be a good time to discuss whether pouchitis is contributing to sleep interruptions.
Ok, thanks. I used to take Lomotil, I will try it again and see what happens. My doctor is in Boston, eight driving hours from me so I guess I will give him a call. Thanks again-
I have a prescription for Lomotil and take it sometimes during the day if I am away on vacation or working a long day. That works for me as well. My surgeon prescribes it over the phone.
If taking just 1 immodium, try 2. Made a huge difference for me (my newer dr.'s recommendation).
I also take 2 Immodium, per surgeon recommendation.
