Gastritis

I have very bad Gastritis and Esophagitis. I am taking sublingual previcid as of yesterday. See what my scope says in another 6 months. This scope was bad. I knew it would be when the vein blew in my hand from the IV (horrible pain still). It usually doesn't have symptoms though. I never new I had it until I looked at the photos.

About 3 1/2 years after my surgeries I started having the horrible, very strong, cramping in my stomache. I had an endoscopy and the Dr said I had "mild acid reflux." I was confused as to how "mild" could hurt so bad. She put me on Zegrid and things settled down, so I didn't question much. If I skip the meds for a few days, cramping comes back. Just this past week, almost five years after surgery, I had my first obstruction. The feeling I had before the pain from actual obstruction was the same cramping that I now link to "mild acid reflux." I had been taking my meds regularly. With all that being said, I'm trying to figure out if this cramping means things are starting to get backed up. Maybe keep this in mind when the cramping starts.

I had it once during my UC days, before surgery. Horrible pain! Hope you feel better soon.

I have been told I have esophagitis, gastritis, and duodenitis, among other things. I have already had three endoscopies in 2012 and will likely be having another in July. I have been on Carafate, Prilosec, Prevacid, Dexilant, and Protonix over the last two years. Currently I am on 80mg of Prilosec because it is the cheapest and nothing seems to work great, anyway.

Are you getting the prescription? At least that way insurance covers it.

I had an ulcer in my esophugus but it healed with Nexium. That worked the best for me but I can't take control released pills with the BCIR. Not sure if Nexium comes any other way. I might try Protonix again. Prilosec didn't work for me at all.

This post is about a year old so am just following up to see how you're managing? Are you still experiencing symptoms or are you better? I have been having issues since start of March and an endoscope showed inflammation in my stomach, as thus, gastritis. My GI only gave me a medication for nausea, but my rheumatologist gave me a PPI to try (if I need to take my anti-inflammatory) and it seems to be helping (but also know we should not be on these for "too long"..whatever that means)

I can no longer take PPIs since I got c.diff. Zantac was mentioned to be "ok". Old thread....funny how these resurface!
