Hello all,
I had a partial colectomy when I was 10 years old due to ulcerative colitis, I still have about 6 in of intestine/rectum left. I am currently being treated with Mesalamine suppositories nightly for mild UC now. That being said, I'm pushing about 400lbs and spoke with a surgeon today about possible weight loss surgery as I'm almost 40. I originally was thinking of the sleeve, but that looks like a bad idea per the advice on here and the surgeon actually pushed for the bypass given my weight. He said it may decrease the number of stools I have (I typically have 7-8 stools daily and about 2 during the night). I was hoping for some experiences or advice. I appreciate your responses in advance. Take care.
