Had my take down 13 months ago. I have gas just about every night. The gas doesn't bother me, but the smell bothers the wife. I usually pass gas once I get into bed and lay on my side. I'm sure there is probably not a lot we can do about it, but wanted to ask you folks on here and see if anyone has a solution.

Hello, Noya12.
Gas is normal, a by-product of the food you've eaten. Remember after your reversal? You were not allowed to eat or drink until you passed gas, a good sign that your bowels had started to work again. Fragrant gas can be caused by the food you eat, for instance onions, eggs, garlic, asparagus, carbohydrates, beans, curries, and spices to name just a few. You could try taking a Beano tablet before your first bite of food to help with some foods. People with their colons have gas too, it's just that j pouchers have more, especially popping out when lying down! It's a sign the bacteria in your bowels are busy breaking down the carbs and sugars and food, and unless you have other troubling symptoms, I would think of it as your new system at work. You could also try lighting candles. Simply striking a wooden match (not a lighter) eliminates any kind of smell.
Thank you Winterberry for your reply. I only have the gas, no other problems. I didn't really think that there was much I could do aside from buying the wife a gas mask to sleep in.
Make sure your wife is asleep before you go to bed.
Had to inject some humor.
