hello everyone, hope you're doing great... my pouch has been rather gassy lately and it's sometimes hard to push out all the gas on the toilet. i find myself straining a bit. if I don't get out the gas, I feel very uncomfortable.

1. My doc says gas increase is probably due to diet. I don't have any other symptoms like diarrhea or fever. I haven't modified my diet much, so I am not sure what is causing so much gas?

2. And how to alleviate and reduce gas production? Gas-X?

2. And how to pass gas without pushing/straining too much? The gas feels "Trapped"! Happen to anyone else?

3. I don't know why these changes are happening now at almost 5 months out. I thought things are supposed to get better? But they are changing in weird ways and I don't think it's an improvement.

thanks.

When I start having problems like you are describing - increase in gas, difficulty getting it out - I usually give it 2-3 days to see if it clears up. Sometimes it's just a bug that has gotten a bit of a hold in there, and it goes away. Other times this persists, and eventually results in pouchitis like symptoms.

So anymore, I give it 2-3 days and then I start popping Flagyl to clear things up. Most of the time I don't have to do this, however.

im really starting to think its the imodium. i cut the yeast and im worse today than yesterday. problem is i stop the imodium and my pouch spasms alot. dear lord the gas has been brutal lately. its the only problem i have with my pouch. i must have passed a gallon of gas in one sitting and still squirmed when i got back in bed. its the reason for all my pain and 90 percent of my bathroom visits and the only reason i dont sleep. im switching to pepto to see what happens...
