Had colon removed and first Jpouch  in 1999. Second J pouch made and 18 inches of small Howell removed in 2013 due to a blockage.
Last month I went to the ER for what I thought was another blockage. I was told I actually have an enlarged gallbladder with a 9mm stone. After an ultrasound and CT scan I’ve been told by two surgeons and one GI specialist that they don’t recommend going into the abdomen at all for fear of harming the small bowel due to scar tissue, etc. Instead they are recommending an experimental surgery where they put a stent in between the top of the smalL bowel and the gallbladder to drain the stones.
They explained that this surgery is for people not expected to live more than three years or that do not have open bowel surgery as an option.
This feels risky to me, especially as a 9mm gallstone is a red flag for gallbladder cancer. I’d prefer to just get the gallbladder out, but not sure what to worry about more.

Thoughts? Advice?
