OK so for the last 3 years I have been dealing with large gallstones basically filling my gallbladder completely. I have been putting surgery off due to concerns of causing more leakage as I already have some. 6 months ago an MRI showed its stable and Dr Shen and Remzi said if not causing issues hold off on surgery. That MRI did show a 8mm dilated common bile duct, which they stated could be from the gallbladder issues and a stone passing and dilating it as it passes. I just had followup with Dr Shens replacement and had an ultrasound on my gallbladder and common bile duct was still 8mm but it also stated mildly dilated intrahepatic bile ducts. those are inside the liver. It stated that the liver showed no issues. I have had no symptoms of PSC , like itching, yellowing of eyes, dark urine, and my labs were awesome about 4 months ago. GI stated that she does not see any concern for PSC as of right now, I am due for labs in a few weeks so hopefully all is good. I still worry about it as what would cause dilated ducts in the liver and not be concerned about ??

She did say its probably time to get the gallbladder out as ultrasound shows, "wall echo shadowcomplex, consistent with gallbladder full of stones, no evidence for acute cholecystititis. but she doesn't want it to become an emergency type surgery. so I will probably schedule it by end of the year.

I found a great surgeon that will get creative and take out laproscopically more from the side. He was recommended by Dr Dietz, who was Remzi's right hand man at Cleveland Clinic before they all left.

Can you tell me who your surgeon was for gallbladder?

Dr Raymond Onders at University Hospital in Cleveland

I did end up with a small hernia last year from the gallbladder surgery that he fixed a few months ago. It was from the gallbladder incision and it was just a fat sac with no intestine in the hernia, which was good and made the surgery easier.
