I may be facing gall bladder surgery. I’ve had my pouch 26 years. I have a damaged sphincter post-fistula surgery/incontinence and a spinal cord stimulator which helps some with the incontinence, along with take Immuran & antibiotics to control pouchitis and codeine and psyllium to also help manage the incontence. I do reasonably well, functionally. As I wait to get a final diagnosis, I may have a harder time with diagnostics since I can’t get an MRI with the stimulator, so hopefully ultrasound or CT will seal the deal.
Any specific things I should be worried about or be sure to talk to the surgeon about regarding my anatomy/not letting anything happen to the pouch? I worry the surgery could also be complicated due to possible adhesions?
Not excited about potential surgery, but thoughtful planning sounds better than ending up with emergent surgery given unusual anatomy.
Apprecite anything thoughts about what should be on my radar relative to gall bladder surgery with a pouch-thanks!
