Hi All!

Just had my 3 year anniversary of getting the J-Pouch back in March. Took me awhile to face the fact that I had to change my eating habits (stubborn!) but after getting sick and tired of cramping and frequent trip the bathroom, I'm slowly started to change.

I did find some things that are dairy free that are actually very tasty, like Country Crock Plant based butter (very close to tasting like real butter) and Maxwell House international coffee that contains a non dairy creamer. I'm experimenting with some real cheeses that say they are lactose free. Next up is Boar's Head Vermont Cheddar, Gouda, Edam, Parmesan. I've tried their Swiss cheese and can tolerate it, so I am hopeful for the others!

The one thing I cant seem to find is a replacement for tomatoes. I LOVE Italian and miss having pizza and pasta. Does anyone have  a good replacement?

Thanks for any advice....

I am sorry you can’t have tomatoes….I also LOVE tomatoes and refuse to give them up.  They burned me for the first 2 years but I kept eating all the Italian food I wanted and then one day the tomato burn faded away.  Large amounts at certain restaurants may give me a slight burn but not bad.  I have no suggestions for a replacement but maybe over time your system will tolerate them like mine did.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey and hope you can enjoy the mighty tomato in the near future.  Don’t give up as it seams our systems are ever changing….

As I stated to another poster.....its not the burn that bothers me, its just that they go right through me. Usually within one hour of eating, I am bathroom bound for several hours......If it was just the burn, I could tolerate it for the most part. .....LOL.
