There have been a few posts on this during the last few months. I would love to hear more about people's experiences. My husband and I have been following Kate Scarlottas 21-day menu. I am surprized at my improvement. The food has been tasty and easy to make. It is higher in fiber than my usual diet but it feels good. Pouchitis is still in remission!

Hi. My daughter was following FODMAP until her surgery last week. Since she needed a resection she is back on low fiber/residue for the next 6 weeks to help her heal.

She didn't like having to cook all the time but the meals were very good. She thinks it did help with her bloating, but it did turn out that it was a surgical issue and she needed the resection.
I hope she goes back to FODMAP eventually.

Enjoy.
I was put on the FODMAP diet last week and have been feeling better. Seems the worst of the discomfort and ill feelings I was experiencing have gone pretty much gone away, which has helped me avoid medication. I so appreciate being able to eat again, even with the restrictions, since FODMAP clearly lays out what I can and cannot have and there are a lot of resources out there for recipes. Before, I felt I was blindly trying to figure out the food thing based on such broad and unhelpful guidance (eat starch, stay away from fiber) and feeling malnourished! Seems cutting out gluten and/or lactose has helped, but who knew before! The researchers at Monash University who developed the diet even have an iphone app. I downloaded it right away when I discovered it ($10), and it's been such a helpful tool at my fingertips. It has a food guide that uses traffic lights and recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and deserts. I made the fish, ginger and veggie dinner last night with some friends, and we all enjoyed it. I wish I had known about the diet sooner, as it might have saved me from weeks of misery.
Beckysmom: I hope your daughter has a speedy and successful recovery!

Anushka: I wish I had known about the diet before I lost my colon. I suspect my quality of life would have been much better. What is the app called? I do feel much better after a week on the diet. I find my fear of food causing pain is slowly disappearing. I am glad it is working for you too.
