I am wondering if there is anyone going through the same situation as me and could tell me their experience. 3 years ago I had my colon removed and was diagnosed with UC. I decided to get the J pouch surgery. Always had problems with the pouch (never could get off antibiotics and could never eat well). Most recently, 5 months ago, I was diagnosed with anal fistulas and abscesses. My diagnosis was changed to Crohn's. I had surgery in July for a temporary ileostomy and seton placement. My j pouch was not removed as the surgeon said that it looks great and that I have up to 5 years to decide whether I want to reconnect or remove j pouch and anus entirely. Although my pain level and functioning had improved, I am wondering how long before I feel 100%. When will the fistulas heal from the remicade and when will the sensation of having to "poop" stop as I feel this sensation most of the day with sometimes passing mucus and blood. I have asked my surgeon all these questions but I am a unique case to her so she does not know.

Thank you for any advice,
Angie
