Hi I went to my doctors yesterday and he is in agreement for MRI to rule out fistula.. All tests so far have come back great blood work & scope..The abcess has not closed and is not infected but does harden on a cycle and discharge.. He says it is healing and looks fine but after yesterday's check up with a internal exam today it's discharging bright red blood.. Would that happen because of exam? I can't wait for my MRI hopefully it will give me answers?

How was your abscess originally found. I'm asking as I bleed intermittently and have been told its cuffitis as i have a lot of bumps in the snal canal. Did he check you with a scope for the abscess? I know abscesses can drain when the doctor does this. If you are not having other fistula symptoms I would hope you are going to be fine.

Hi Jeane they were found in September and both surgically removed one with a drain for 4 weeks one was packed..I was not feeling well high fever severe pain in and out of rectum.. The perianal is keeping me on my toes stubborn and just lingers around!!All tests so far show no fistula but I am ecstatic for my MRI.. I have been tired nauseous light headed and losing weight for fear of blockages..I have been problem free for 12 years.. I do have a very understanding and compassionate surgeon so hope to have definite answers after scan!! Do you have a abcess or fistula?

My abscess turned fistula always discharged blood. Never really did pus or ugly stuff, just old blood, and then fresh blood, every time it would cycle. I have a seton now. That part of me seems at bay; other parts of me are broken at the moment. Frowner

An MRI confirmed my fistula tract, a "common" intrasphincteric one at 7:00. I've felt off for about a year now, then this abscess happened and things are spiraling. I had 22 good years, and now the past 4 months have been a mess.

Hi Rachel I'm sorry to hear about what you are dealing with.. You are right it's hard for people to truly understand what we go through. I always get the but you look good comment..I have learned to not let it get to me.I hope things get better for you(: you have helped me I took your advice and asked for a MRI and am getting one now.. My symptoms are the same except for the lump changing its location and when I bend down there is a strange ache in my rectum? I will continue to hope for the best and hope MRI will back up my doctor believing its all healing? Hope today was better then yesterday for you(:
