Fistula

If they do a flap my understanding is that it's best to wait to do the take down as the fistula will have a better chance of healing with no activity in the pouch. 

Thanks JHendrex, the stitch they put in worked. Just had my x-ray and no more fistula. Take down is may 15th. and I can't wait.

I'm hoping things have gone well for you AIMC. I believe your surgery was scheduled for mid May?

I think I'm doing okay. The pain from gas is killer at times and some accidents at night kind of suck, but the BMs are like 5 to 8 times during the day, and up maybe 1 or 2 times at night though I have slept through the night a couple of times. Wish I could remember what I did to make that happen . This is week three, and I've been walking and trying to stay busy, things seem to go better that way. I even took my mother to lunch today. That went okay.  I know this is all very individual, but would love to know when the gas gets better. I've not had much trouble with the dreaded butt burn thank God, so that's good. My surgeon released me last week. He wants me to follow up with my GI. Have an appt. with him in Aug. I can not believe how busy those guys are. Well that's about all I can think of for now. Thanks for asking.

Sounds so familiar. For me the gas has subsided alot and hopefully will for you too. Any activity from the fistula or is that indeed healed? 

The fistula is healed. I ended up having surgery. Thank God no more gastrograffin enemas. Wow no one should have three.

Congratulations. Happy to hear a success story, especially when it comes to a fistula.
