I had my takedown about 2 months ago now and it has not been fun. First, the doctors said I had pouchitis and I went on flagyl which made me very sick and lose a lot of weight because of the nausea (which I had been on flagyl a number of times and not been sick so that was weird). The flagyl made my frequency go down however. Now, lately I have been having a lot of blood and even clots coming out on the toilet paper and in the bowl as well. I first thought I was having a prolapsed j pouch, but dismissed that and then I thought it was a hemorrhoid because I could sort of feel a bump when I would strain or go to the bathroom. When I went to my surgeon the other day, she said she thinks that it is a fissure and wants to do a scope to make sure. It's so painful and I go about 8 times a day so I feel like it can never heal if that's what it is Frowner
I also strain every time I go to the bathroom because I feel like nothing comes out if I don't and I am trying to stop straining, but it's so difficult for me not to.
Has anyone had symptoms or fissures that could give me some advice or help?

A fissure is NOT the end of the world and it definitely CAN heal. I had one form after my takedown and as far as I can tell it's completely gone now.

The straining is probably what is causing your problems -- that, combined with the bleeding, makes me think your problem might be cuffitis, not pouchitis.

Unfortunately your pouch is very new and I think you really need your surgeon's help to address these issues. Of course in the meantime make sure you are staying hydrated and eating lots of soft, nutritious foods. Absolutely nothing fibrous yet -- it will hurt on the way out. Try a sitz bath or soaking in a warm tub (if you're allowed to with your incision) to soothe the fissure/anal area. Are you using any kind of barrier cream like A&D or Calmoseptine?
