I saw my surgeon yesterday for some pretty severe pain I've been having lately and it turns out I have a fissure. I'm on Nitroglycerin ointment 3 times a day but the pain is pretty bad. Can anyone recommend something for pain relief? Also, how long do these usually take to heal?

they can be nasty little buggers! I have a tiny one which I developed back in April this year but it doesn't cause me much trouble or pain like what your describing. Unfortunately they dont heal without some sort of surgical intervention or in some cases for Crohns patients medications. Stay strong, hope you start to feel better soon
