Will I have to take fiber for the rest of my life? If I don't take fiber it is pure hell. Meaning I can't empty, so that means constant bathroom trips with small amounts of output and discomfort. I have to take fiber with every meal. So I was wondering if there is an alternative to fiber. I only have to take a teaspoon of fiber per meal, but if I don't take it I pay for it for hours. I have had my pouch since February of 2015

Even 15 years later I find that fiber helps. I consider it a minor nuisance. I don't know if your consequences (for skipping it) will diminish, but they might.
Fibre is a normaliser for most people. For me it slows me down and gives me more control. It's probably a life long thing to be honest, and just becomes part of the ritual. I only have it once a day though, usually evening meal. Any more than that gives me butt burn for some reason
How funny, I cam on here to look at what people said about fibre, and it was the first topic!
I have a pouch, and I have SIBO. Gas/wind are a huge issue especially if I have sugar, but even with no sugar. The doctor has suggested fibre but I am concerned this will give me more gas. Has anyone had problems with gas when taking fibre? Or has anyone had it help?
My surgeon suggested Benefiber or Metamucil Clear as they appear to cause less gas. I had previously used Benefiber due to diverticulosis so I went back to it and it seems to be working well for me.
