I have been having flares of pouchitis since July and I've been on 3 different antibiotics: levasquin 2x, one other I can't remember the name and now Cipro.  All through this my symptoms are not getting better, if anything it feels like I have UC again - which isn't possible as I have no colon.  I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow but I have a feeling he is just going to put me on yet another antibiotic, I'm guessing Flagyl- which bums me out because it makes me nauseous.  But I do have nausea meds.  I feel like I'm living on endless different drugs and I wonder if it is hurting my body in other ways.  My real reason for the post is to ask whether anyone has used Humira to treat pouchitis?  If yes, was it successful?  What were the side effects.  Besides the antibiotics does anyone else have input on what was successful for them?  I'm taking this 10 strain 30 billion cfu probiotic, hoping that will help, but so far no.  I might ask my doctor to check me for CDiff as I know that might be a problem.  Thanks gang.

Levaquin and Cipro are closely related, so unfortunately they didn't really give you the full benefit of trying two different antibiotics. There are other antibiotics to try: Augmentin, Tindamax, Xifaxan. And: is the nausea from Flagyl temporary for you, or does it last as long as you take the Flagyl?

I can't help you with the Humira question, though it seems a bit premature. I've been lucky enough so far to have found an antibiotic plan that's working.
