i had surgery back in 3/99 for FAP, no problems, just found i had the gene that causes the problems (got it from my dad).
he learned something new yesterday and after reading on here i see no reference to it.
are those of us with FAP prone to jaw bone cancer? my dad got sent to a dental specialist (i am not sure what the specific area of expertise was), reason he was sent was for white spots on his teeth. the dentist said for whatever reason, this is a precurser of jawbone cancer. apparently if you have FAP (or Gardners syndrome) there can be bone growths on your lower jaw bone that can also turn cancerous. the dentist told him he ran into it 20 years ago and that was how the patient found out he had FAP.
anyone else heard this?
