I had it done June 2012. I can't lie, it was a pretty rough surgery, BUT, so worth it! My J pouch was falling apart and I was in agony 24/7. After the surgery, I'm pain free! Not much I can offer in the way of advice as everyone reacts differently, but I will say, within a few days, I started to feel so wonderful, and the pain was gone! It took me about two weeks to recover enough to go home, and about six months to feel completely recovered. Just don't rush it, take all the time he needs to recover. I returned to work too soon and ended up sick, don't make that mistake. I will say, I the most bizarre feeling to have my rectum removed and stitched up, but you get use to it. I wish you both all the best, and keep us posted!

Cheers,
Eric
