Hello everyone. I’m in need of some urgent help. I’ve had a vitamin D injection of ergocalciferol a few days ago. I’ve had it a number of times before and it’s been ok, but this time the reaction has been quite troublesome. I’ve got a headache, feeling light headed but what’s worrying me the most is that I’m not urinating as much and not emptying my pouch as often. My urge to go to the toilet is not like before too. Please anyones help with this will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks indeed.

Although ergocalciferol can sometimes damage the kidneys, your reduced pouch output suggests that something else is going on. Are you drinking enough fluid? Is your urine light-colored (as it should be)?

I am urinating, although it’s hard to determine the quality since it’s often mixed with (small amounts) of stool. But I’m pretty sure it’s clear and light coloured as it should be.
I drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. It may be a coincidence that this is happening after the ergocalciferol jab. I’m really not sure. I made an emergency appointment with a gastro and had bloods taken for a follow-up soon.
