Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you took Elavil/Amitriptyline for irritable pouch syndrome, anxiety, or another use. I recently started taking 25mg at night for pouch pain and anxiety. It's only been a few days, but I feel slightly better (could be the placebo effect of course). I've had pretty bad anxiety lately so I'm hoping that this will kill two birds with one stone, although it may take a higher dosage eventually to get the anxiety under control, as I believe 25mg is pretty low. My plan is to stay on 25mg for a few months and then decide with my GI doc if we should try to increase it.

All drugs react different as Im sure you know so take this knowing Im different then you.. but I was on Amitriptyline for 7 years. and yes it finally helped me sleep. However a few years in I realized I was sleep walking. I would wake up and the front door would be wide open (I needed to open 3 different locks on the inside to open it ) - really freaked me out so I went off it (took a year to wean off)
