hello... I have had a lapse in my eating disorder and have purged nearly every day 1-3 times a day for a couple weeks. Other than recently I usually end up falling into eating disorder behaviors maybe a few times a month. I have mental health support but I’m concerned about my J pouch. does anyone know if problems/what problems could arise with my J pouch because of this that I should watch out for? I’m not feeling good today, probably from the behaviors but I still would appreciate feedback. Thank you!!

I don’t think purging is likely to hurt your J-pouch appreciably, unless your pouch is unusually fussy about a steady supply of food. The other well-known consequences of purging are likely to be of greatest significance. I hope you find your way back to a more settled state. Good luck!
Anniegirl...just sending you love.
Did the ED start after the diagnosis or before ? I’ve always been interested in ulcerative colitis and eating disorders. I think there is a correlation. I starved myself as a kid so I wouldn’t have an accident in school and it became a pattern.
Purging affects nutrition and absorption which can upset the immune system. I’m so sorry that you are struggling
Thank you everyone for your kind/helpful responses. To answer your question Kate it started years before.
I would be worried about getting dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids. Sending peace and love!
