WOW it has been Smiler quite a while sine I have visited here. Nice to see the site still going strong, and a few familiar name ( Jan Dollar) A quick update and possible inspiration for others . I had my J-pouch surgery 10 years ago, the first 2 years were tough, since then life has returned to better than normal. In fact I just completed my first of many to come I hope Sprint triathlons!!! 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile run!! YAY Dave Smiler For all of you wondering if you can ever return to what you may consider a normal life I am telling YES YOU CAN!!!! Don't stop trying and never give up hope. This site was a crucial part of my rebuilding and I am so happy to have found it years ago. Good luck to all and I believe I will be stopping in from time to time !! So great to read! I'm a distance runner, and recently completed a half marathon just 7.5 months post take down, and am training for a full month that I'll run just shy of my one year anniversary of the take down surgery. You are correct...your life can and will go back to "normal" (relatively) in time. Mine seems to have gotten there a little earlier than the average, and I am quite grateful for this each and every day. Congratulations to you and hope you have continued success.
